📖 The Story
He stared at it for a few moments in bafflement, and then fear came upon him. He left the book and the wine where they were and quickly got into bed under the feather quilt.
Not long afterward he told this strange experience to a Capuchin, who said to him: "You should have drunk the wine—it was good; it came from our cellar."

Faithful and fluent; the only uncertainty is the exact intended rendering of the book-title.
He gaped at it for some moments without understanding, and then fear came over him, and he let book and wine be where they were, and made himself swift into the bed under the feather-cover.
Soon after, he told his odd happening to a Capuchin, and he said to him: "If only you had drunk the wine; it was good; it came out of our cellar."
