Which engine should I use?

Raster wrapper: baseline sanity check (no tracing) — confirms normalization/export pipeline.

Potrace (high-contrast): logos, icons, line art, screenshots of UI/diagrams. Use when you want crisp silhouettes.

ImageTracer (multi-color): flat illustrations and posterized art. Use when you can tolerate a stylized result.

OpenCV contours: edge/outline tracing. Useful for quick outlines; often noisy on photos.

Tip: use Self-test engines in Diagnostics to verify output stays valid after changes.
