It clarifies the infrastructure, platform, and shared technology services required to deliver the target solution. By doing so, it sets the foundation for design, procurement, deployment, and ongoing operations, ensuring every technology choice is traceable to the solution’s functional and non‑functional requirements, enterprise principles, and strategic objectives.
1. **State the Business & Solution Context** – Describe how the technology stack enables the solution’s business capabilities and application services (identified in the preceding Business and Application Architectures).
2. **Highlight Architectural Principles** – Reference principles such as cloud‑first, automation, resilience, observability, security‑by‑design, and cost optimisation.
3. **Define Scope & Boundaries** – Specify which layers (compute, storage, network, platform, middleware, tooling) are in scope, including integrations with existing enterprise services and external providers.
4. **Clarify Outcomes & Benefits** – Summarise the tangible results expected (e.g. improved availability, faster time‑to‑market, reduced technical debt).
5. **Tie Back to Enterprise Strategy** – Demonstrate alignment with published IT roadmaps, standards, and investment priorities.
The technology architecture is **capability‑driven** and **cloud‑native**, ensuring that every infrastructure component directly supports an application or business capability without unnecessary complexity. For the **Customer Experience Platform (CEP)** initiative:
* **Compute & Container Platform** – A managed Kubernetes service (EKS/AKS/GKE) provides elastic, multi‑AZ compute for all microservices, enabling horizontal scalability during seasonal traffic spikes.

### Scope Inclusions & Exclusions
This section **draws the line** around what is, and is not, part of the Technology Architecture for the target solution. It names every infrastructure layer, platform service, integration, and environment **inside** the remit of this document, while explicitly pointing to what is **outside**—either because it is governed at the enterprise level (e.g. corporate identity service), covered in a separate domain architecture (e.g. Data Architecture), or belongs to a different project altogether. Clear scope boundaries prevent ambiguity, control effort, and keep stakeholders aligned on deliverables and accountabilities.

Clear articulation of these elements provides stakeholders with a shared understanding of what will change, the rationale, and the scale of effort required.
